Grants

Alta Community Enrichment proudly supports the artistic and educational endeavors of local community members by offering two grants, the Artist Grant and the WEXL Education Grant. All information on these two grants and their history can be found on links to the right. Past winners, how to apply and for grantees information can be found in the left hand menu.

Each grant awards $1,000 every year on April 1st.

You are considered a community member if you live, work or play in the Little Cottonwood Canyon.


 

ARTIST GRANT

The ACE Artist grant was created to support the artistic endeavors of local community members. Total monies awarded each year is $1,000.

The criteria to receive funding are as follows:

  • Eligibility is limited to the Little Cottonwood Canyon Community.

  • The grant is not available to employees of Alta Community Enrichment, board members of Alta Community Enrichment or family of employees/board members of Alta Community Enrichment.

  • Funding will be available to those doing projects in the Arts including but not limited to: fine arts, performing arts, crafts, visual arts (i.e. photography, film making), literary arts, music, etc.

  • Alta Community Enrichment will not fund projects that are already completed.

  • Artists must present a thorough explanation of the project including a personal resume, what the project entails, reasonable completion dates, how much funding is needed and samples of current or past work.

  • Any monies granted will be one time only.

  • Upon completion of a project, the artist will be responsible for providing volunteerism or an event for ACE with regard to the funding recieved.

  • Artists will also be required to present paper accounting of how the funds granted were utilized.


THE WEXL EDUCATION GRANT

- In Memory of William Edward Xavier Lennon

  • Alta Community Enrichment and Alta Ski Patrol have partnered to offer an educational grant in memorial to Bill Lennon. The WEXL grant is in recognition of Bill's accomplishments and the inspiration he has provided to the Alta community. Bill was one of the pioneers to establish ACE in 1995 and was on the Alta Ski Patrol from 1980 to 2006. The object of this grant is to assist a community member in need of assistance to pursue their education.

  • Total grant funds awarded each year will be $1000.

Criteria to receive funding is as follows:

  • Eligibility is not available to the WEXL Committee and their families.

  • Funding is available for education that is already in process or not yet begun.

  • Funding is not available for education that is already completed.

  • Funding is available for but not limited to: tuition, travel, housing, supplies.

  • Education can be looked at broadly - trainings, classes for skills,etc.

  • Applicants must present a thorough explanation of the field in which they are pursuing including information on where and when this education will take place, anticipated date of completion, what they intend to do with this education, and why they are interested in this field.

  • Applicants must submit how much funding they wish to receive.

  • Applicants must submit a resume including information of their past experience and involvement with Little Cottonwood Canyon.

  • Upon completion of the project the recipient will be responsible for showing how the funds were used and when the education was completed. This will be prepared with an evaluation form provided by ACE. Recipients will be required to present paper accounting of the funds granted.

  • Funds will be distributed once year with deadline for applications of March 10th with money distributed on April 1st.

  • Any funds granted will be for one time only. Past recipients are no longer eligible for grant monies.
