ACE GRANTS

Alta Community Enrichment proudly supports the artistic, cultural and educational endeavors of local community members by offering four grants;

the Artist Grant, the WEXL Education Grant, the Young Guns Grant and the Community Service Grant.

Each grant awards $1,000-$1,500 every year on April 1st with a deadline for applications of March 1st. 

You are considered a community member if you live, work or play in the Little Cottonwood Canyon.  The ACE Board and ACE Grant committees reserve the right to choose the grant winners. 

The Artist Grant

The ACE Artist grant was created to support the artistic endeavors of local community members. Total amount awarded each year is $1,000.

The criteria to receive funding is as follows

  • Eligibility is limited to the Little Cottonwood Canyon Community.
  • Alta Community Enrichment employees and board members are ineligible.
  • Funding will be available to those doing projects in the Arts including but not limited to: fine arts, performing arts, crafts, visual arts, literary arts, music, etc.
  • Funding is available for projects that are currently in process or have not yet begun and must already be approved.
  • Funding is not available for projects that have been completed.
  • The deadline for applications is March 1st and funds will be distributed each year on April 1st.
  • Any funds granted will be for one time only. Past recipients are no longer eligible for grant monies.
  • Artists will also be required to present paper accounting of how the funds granted were utilized.
  • Artists must submit application and provide examples of their work.

The WEXL Education Grant

In Memory of William Edward Xavier Lennon

  • In 2007, ACE and the Alta Ski Patrol partnered together to offer an educational grant in memorial to Bill Lennon. The WEXL grant is in recognition of Bill's accomplishments and the inspiration he has provided to the Alta community. Bill was one of the pioneers to establish ACE in 1995 and was on the Alta Ski Patrol from 1980 to 2006. Bill was on the Alta Town Council as well.
  • The object of this grant is to continue a legacy of thinking alternatively and creatively with education and to assist a community member in need of assistance to pursue this education
  • Total grant funds awarded each year will be $1500.  Two winners will be awarded- $1000 and $500.

The criteria to receive funding is as follows

  • WEXL Committee members and their families are ineligible.
  • Funding is available for education that is currently in process or has not yet begun and must already be approved.
  • Funding is not available for education that has been completed.
  • Funding is available for but not limited to: tuition, travel, housing, supplies.
  • Education can be looked at broadly - training, classes for skills,etc.
  • Upon completion, the recipients will be responsible for providing the achievement/graduation date and paper accounting of how the funds were allocated using an evaluation form provided by ACE.
  • Funds will be distributed once year with deadline for applications of March 1st with money distributed on April 1st.
  • Any funds granted will be for one time only. Past recipients are no longer eligible for grant monies.
  • Applicants must submit application.

Young Guns Grant

The object of this grant is to assist a Little Cottonwood Community member, age 18 and under, in need of assistance to pursue opportunities in art, culture and/or education.  Total grant funds awarded each year: $1000.

The criteria to receive funding is as follows

  • Eligibility is limited to Little Cottonwood Community members age 18 and under.
  • Eligibility not available to employees of Alta Community Enrichment or Board members of Alta Community Enrichment.
  • Funding is available for projects that are already in process or not yet begun, projects must be approved.
  • Funding is not available for projects that are already completed.
  • Funding is available for but not limited to: tuition, travel, housing, supplies.
  • The deadline for applications is March 1st and funds will be distributed each year on April 1st.

community service grant

The object of this grant is to support the local, national and international community service/ volunteer endeavors of local Little Cottonwood community members.

 The criteria to receive funding is as follows:

  • Eligibility is open to Little Cottonwood community members.
  • Eligibility not available to employees of Alta Community Enrichment or Board members of Alta Community Enrichment.
  • Funding will be available to those who are doing projects in community volunteerism including but not limited to opportunities locally, nationally and abroad. Funding can cover travel cost, visas, insurance, language classes, etc.
  • Funding is available for projects that are already in process or not yet begun, projects must be approved.
  • Funding is not available for projects that are already completed.
  • Funds will be distributed once year with deadline for applications of March 1st with money distributed on April 1st.
  • Any funds granted will be for one time only. Past recipients are no longer eligible for grant monies.
  • Upon completion of the project the recipient will be responsible for showing how the funds were used and when the education was completed. This will be prepared with an evaluation form provided by ACE. Recipients will be required to present paper accounting of the funds granted.
  • Applicants must submit application.
